Highway 400 out of Toronto to north of Barrie
Highway 69 to Sudbury to hook up with Highway 17
17 to the Manitoba border, where it hooks up with Manitoba 1, which is numbered as “1” through Saskatchewan to Regina
Here’s the big decision – you can head north to Saskatoon or west to Calgary. the Calgary route takes you through higher passes, the Saskatoon, Edmonton route is less scenic but the grades and roads are somewhat better.
It’s a pretty long drive. Allow about 3-4 days to get out of Ontario, another 3-4 to get to Calgary, and another 2-3 to get through the mountains to Vancouver.
